We are getting the reputation for good weather for the Spring Run but I can assure you we don’t have a direct link up above, just good luck. The run began at Junction 12 on the M1 and everybody arrived on time. Well done to everybody. The run took us around North Armagh amongst winding roads with the Blackthorn in all it’s splendour giving a spectacular display.
The Apple Blossom was nearly out and what a sight it would have been in full bloom. We passed close by the River Bann making it’s way from Portadown to Lough Neagh and it looked lovely winding through the countryside. We crisscrossed the Motorway and finally arrived at Derry’s having completed about half our run in just over15 miles. It was time to step back in time and have our snack in the beautiful surroundings of Derry’s.
After a very warm welcome from John we were lost in time looking at the beautiful relics from the past. Many were tempted to strike a deal and some were just pleased to have been able to have the opportunity to see what was available to view. This would be a good time to mention the great service provided by the staff in Derry’s for the food and soup.
About 2.30 it was time to leave and reluctantly we left the past behind and had to make our way to the final destination ,again through beautiful countryside to the Famous Grouse, where we had our evening meal organised. Again it was up to the standard we have been accustomed to in this very fine Restaurant. The restaurant staff were thanked for their good service and all participants were thanked for coming along to the run.
Now it was time to make our farewells until the next time at the Donegal Run.
