Ulster Pre War Austin Club Cinema Outing October 2010

What a beautiful day this turned out to be, sunshine all the day long, and we were all greeted by Wilfie Patterson and given tickets for Jacksons Restaurant in Saintfield. What a spread this was with tea/coffee, sandwiches and buns.

Then we walked around the shops in the town and found that the store owned by Jacksons was a shoppers paradise with everything from tools to tilley mantles and cookery items. Some were lucky to buy clothing and many other items.

Around 3.00 p.m. we set off to Spence’s Cinema along a very scenic route to see “School For Scoundrels”. Mind you some did not make it in one go but took a wrong turn but still arrived in time for the 4.00p.m. start. What a good show this was and it was over at around 5.00p.m. This cinema is a replica of a “Picture House” we all knew from the past.

The return journey was a bit more less stressful in that we all made it back to Wilfie’s House to have our evening meal in Gillian’s Art Studio for Fish and Chips. What lovely food it was served by some of the ladies and followed by a choice of desserts. The evening went on till 9.00 p.m. and much longer for the few who stayed behind to wash up.

It is only left for me to thank Patricia and Wilfie for an extremely brilliant day and to all the many friends who turned out for the last of the runs.
